The retail world is littered with stores that focus on surf/skate style shoes and apparel. As this is among the most popular of current fashions, it only makes sense that there would be many different companies making the attempt to cash in. That being said, there are certain organizations amongst the pretenders that have legitimate old-school credibility; companies that have been around for twenty or thirty years and have only been thrust into the fashion spotlight relatively recently. One of the best of these is Vans. The folks at Vans have been bringing their distinctive footwear and apparel to the public for decades, and now are enjoying the fruits of their labors. Of course, when dealing in an industry that focuses on the younger people, a website is crucial…the hipper, the better. Happily, Vans hit the nail on the head with Vans.com. This is a fantastic site; extremely interactive with a sleek, attractive look. There is a great design aesthetic, but no navigability was sacrificed to get it. In fact, the only thing cooler than the site has got to be the inventory. The shoes, the clothes, the accessories…they are all high-quality and they are all reasonably priced. The only problem you might have is finding enough time to look at everything you might want to buy. Of course, no site like this would be complete without some fun and interesting features. There is a bulletin board for both customers and non-customers alike to voice opinions regarding the culture, as well as skating photo galleries and videos. All in all, shopping at Vans.com is a blast, and well worth whatever time you might be able to spare. |
