Shiny shoes indicate tidiness and affluence, etc. Regardless of what our shoes mean to others, they’re still important to us. We love shoes, but some shoes are more beloved than others. Today, the key to wild success in the footwear industry is athletic footwear, period. That’s where the money is. That’s why huge contracts are thrown at professional athletes to act as spokespeople. However, there are some companies out there that recognize that tradition and quality of product are still meaningful in the marketplace. Converse is definitely one such company. Converse has been around forever, and there was a time not so long ago where it would be unthinkable to step onto a basketball court wearing anything other than a pair of high-top Chuck Taylor All-Stars. That’s tradition, and that’s quality, a quality that runs through the entire Converse product line, from Chucks to the newer Aggressor and Overtime lines. The term “old-school” gets tossed around a lot these days, but Converse is truly old-school, with all of the legitimacy and credibility that the term implies. Sometimes, clever advertising is all it takes to achieve success, but it’s nice to know that some companies still feel like a high-quality product is enough. |
