There will always be a segment of the population that believes in educating while you entertain, and vice versa. Many of us love to learn, no matter how much we already know. There are a myriad of companies and organizations that attempt to cater to the more knowledge-hungry among us. The Discovery Channel is at the forefront of that entertainment/education dichotomy. They present a lot of information while still maintaining the interest of the average viewer; no mean feat in this day and age. In tandem with the channel, the Discovery people have established an excellent retail site at DiscoveryStore.com. This is a fantastic site, with lots of bright vivid color and plenty of activity. The images are sharp and detailed, and the layout is both easy to look at and easy to follow. The inventory is fabulous. The products here are all interesting and fun, with some sort of inherent educational value. There are, of course, all manner of books, videos, DVDs available for your perusal. The section devoted to optics equipment is particularly impressive as well, with some very high quality telescopes and binoculars. The selection of toys and games is a lot of fun, and the tools and tech section is full of neat items like digital cameras and various other high-end electronics. This site is excellent, with products that engage the mind. If that’s what you’re looking for, then DiscoveryStore.com is the place to go. It is a wonderful compliment to the Discovery Channel, and a worthwhile enterprise in its own right. |
