Precious stones have long been a symbol of affluence and opulence in our culture. They are among the relatively few items that derive their value from their beauty. Of course, rarity is a factor, but the fact remains that if gems weren’t beautiful, no one would care much one way or the other about their rarity. Jewels are beautiful, true, but they are also status symbols; they are an acceptable means of displaying your wealth to the rest of the world. While these displays can be a little on the ostentatious side, for the most part they are subtle and tasteful. This brings us to Wal-Mart’s Jewelry department. Now, Wal-Mart is ascending the mountain as the largest retailer in this country. You don’t get to be the biggest without quality product, affordable prices, and excellent service. This commitment to the customer carries over into all facets of the Wal-Mart experience, including online, and the Jewelry department is certainly no exception. You can get all kinds of jewelry here; pendants, earrings, necklaces, rings…the list goes on and on. This site offers everything that we have come expect from Wal-Mart; it only stands to reason that a company with such a strong foundation would want to ensure a similarly strong foundation online. The site is great; it has simplicity of design that enhances the aesthetic rather than hindering it. The images are sharp and clear, while the product descriptions are informative and helpful.
