Microsoft is a true corporate giant. Their influence is felt all over the world, and they are as close to omnipresent as any company out there. Sure there are those out there who would disparage the all-encompassing, almost Orwellian nature of Microsoft, but they simply don’t understand. Microsoft has developed a number of wonderful, integral pieces of computer software, so why shouldn’t they have a sales presence online as well? Simply go to Shop.Microsoft.com and be amazed at the wide variety of products and services that the people at Microsoft have made available to you. You can buy the standard stuff, such as Windows operating systems and other software for your home and office PCs. There’s Money 2003 Deluxe, Plus! for Windows XP, as well Works Suite 2003, which is basically six different software titles in one easy-to-use package. There is also some serious business software available here; plenty of desktop publishing, financial and database programs. Of course, there are some excellent games, as well as links to Microsoft’s Xbox site. Shop.Microsoft.com also sells a variety of books and some hardware, too. One of the more interesting links is Unleash Your Potential, which shelters digital photography and entertainment, home networking, and pocket PC technology under its umbrella. The site itself is marvelous; one would expect nothing less from Microsoft. It has visual appeal and a high level of user-friendliness. Plenty of information is provided and navigation is a breeze. What’s not to like. Nice site, nice products; once more Microsoft has proved why they remain the preeminent force in the computer world today. |
